Erin Alvarado
Bio
Backed by almost ten years of professional communications experience, Erin Alvarado ’16 is a trusted leader whose work elevates engagement and fosters enduring connections throughout Florida Tech’s global alumni network.
As the Assistant Director of Alumni Communications & Content, Alvarado plays a pivotal role in shaping the university’s alumni engagement and philanthropy strategy through compelling storytelling, strategic communication planning, and multi-platform content development.
Her responsibilities include writing and editing content for the Florida Tech Advancement team, supporting alumni events and receptions, collaborating with Florida Tech’s Marketing team on multimedia projects, and curating meaningful content that highlights the impact of Florida Tech graduates on social media.
Her talent for narrative storytelling shines particularly in her alumni profiles and feature articles for the Florida Tech Magazine, many of which spotlight inspiring career journeys—from alumni making breakthroughs in engineering and environmental science to those leading in business, tech, and community service.
Her leadership and campus presence demonstrate a genuine dedication to strengthening bonds between alumni and students, helping all Panthers feel informed, appreciated, and inspired to stay connected to their alma mater.
Alvarado currently serves on Florida Tech’s Staff Advisory Council (SAC) and is the Chair of the SAC Communications Subcommittee, helping shape internal communications, highlight staff achievements, and foster transparent dialogue across campus.
She is also a member of Florida Tech’s Safe Space program, supporting an inclusive, welcoming campus where students, faculty, staff, and alumni can thrive.
As a proud Florida Tech alumna herself, Alvarado graduated in 2016 with a bachelor’s degree in Business Administration–Marketing from the Nathan M. Bisk College of Business.
Her passion for communication, branding, and community-building can be traced back to her student years, where she developed a strong connection to the university that would later guide her career.
Outside of crafting stories or supporting university initiatives, Alvarado cherishes spending time with her son (and future Panther) Owen, relaxing with her husband, David Alvarado ’13, ’14 M.S., and enjoys reading, running, travelling with her family, and indulging her passions for Disney, theatre, and all things Taylor Swift.
